APRIL International partners with Sompo to expand International Private Medical Insurance across Asia Pacific

APRIL International, leading specialist in international health insurance, today announced a strategic regional partnership with Sompo, global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty insurance, to expand their International Private Medical Insurance offering across the Asia Pacific region. This partnership is part of the APRIL group’s international growth strategy, focused on expanding its footprint in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

This partnership brings together APRIL’s IPMI expertise, strong distribution network and customer-centric approach with Sompo’s regional market knowledge and underwriting capabilities.

Through this agreement, APRIL and Sompo will co-develop differentiated IPMI solutions, combining underwriting, claims management, and assistance expertise to deliver innovative, flexible, and regionally relevant offerings in Singapore, with plans to extend to additional APAC markets in the near future. The first joint offerings are expected to launch in December 2025.

This collaboration strengthens APRIL International’s leadership position as a global IPMI provider and reflects the group’s vision to make international healthcare simpler and more accessible for all, while enabling Sompo to further broaden its customer reach and product portfolio across the Asia Pacific region.

“As we have been strongly anchored in Asia for the past 10 years, this partnership is an opportunity to accelerate APRIL International’s growth."

"Sompo’s regional presence and expertise will help us keep on delivering high-quality, accessible health solutions to individuals, SMEs and organizations across the region, while supporting the APRIL group’s long-term commitment to providing a best-in-class experience to our partners and customers,” said Romain Di Meglio, CEO of APRIL International in Asia and the Middle East

“This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our strategy to be the preferred partner in our customers’ future of health, wellbeing and financial protection across APAC,” said Bill Zhang, President of APAC Consumer Lines, Sompo. “APRIL shares our commitment to putting customers first. And with their deep domain expertise, we will deliver innovative protection and service offerings that both business and individual customers in the region increasingly value and demand.”
