A few extra things to know about our Short-Term International Health Insurance plan

What is the difference between international health insurance and travel insurance?

International health insurance is designed for expatriates or anyone living, working, or travelling abroad for an extended period. Generally, international health insurance will provide access to leading private medical facilities, with a wide range of comprehensive medical insurance benefits. Whilst most travel insurance policies will provide emergency medical coverage before returning you to your home country, and feature alongside core benefits such as travel delays, cancellations, baggage, and belongings.

Do I need to fill out a medical questionnaire?

New customers under the age of 65 years, will qualify for our Moratorium underwriting term, which does not require a completed medical questionnaire. The Moratorium specifies that any pre-existing medical conditions that have been diagnosed, treated, consulted, or had symptoms in the past 2 years will be excluded from cover.

Am I too old to take out international health cover?

The maximum age limit for new customers is 70 years.

Will I have cover for pre-existing medical conditions?

The plan is not intended to provide cover for medical conditions that have been in existence in the two years immediately prior to its start date.

Any medical condition that is already in existence will not be eligible for cover, unless you have purchased our benefit add on for Pre-existing Condition Cover.

How long will I be covered for?

The plan can be purchased for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 12 months.

Can I extend or renew my policy

If your work assignment or trip has not finished after 12 months, you can apply for an extension of cover for a maximum period of 6 months, so long as you advise us before your plan expiry date. The maximum total period of cover allowed under the plan is 18 months.
