In an increasingly mobile world, MyHealth International, APRIL International's expat health insurance, has become an essential safety net for anyone settling, working, or staying outside their home country. Whether you're an expatriate, a posted worker, or a digital nomad, having the right health coverage is critical to accessing quality care, managing medical expenses, and fully enjoying your life abroad.
When you leave your home country, your national health system typically stops covering medical expenses abroad, or covers them only partially. Healthcare costs can vary dramatically between countries. In places like the United States, Singapore, or Mexico, a single specialist consultation can cost hundreds of euros, and a hospital stay can easily run into tens of thousands.
Without the right international health insurance, these costs can become a serious financial burden.
With MyHealth International, you benefit from coverage designed by expats, giving you access to quality care worldwide while keeping your healthcare costs under control.
Cover everyday medical expenses (consultations, medication, lab tests)
Get full hospitalization and emergency care coverage
Access high-quality private medical facilities
Benefit from 24/7 international assistance
Stay protected in the event of a serious incident or accident
MyHealth International is designed for a wide range of profiles:
Expatriates relocating abroad on a long-term basis
Employees and entrepreneurs on international assignments
Expat families looking for comprehensive coverage for all members
International retirees
Digital nomads and freelancers working remotely around the world
Every profile has unique needs - which is why flexibility and customisation are at the heart of MyHealth International.
To select the best plan, consider the following factors:
Geographic coverage (worldwide, excluding the US, or specific countries)
Reimbursement levels and annual benefit limits
Access to private care and partner medical networks
Direct payment of hospital bills (no upfront costs)
Optional add-ons: maternity, dental, optical, preventive care
Compliance with local requirements (visa, residency permit, legal obligations)
A strong plan must align with local regulations while delivering solid international coverage.

International health insurance offers you much more comprehensive protection with higher reimbursement limits than a temporary plan. It is also a lifetime solution, so in the event of a major health problem, you are covered for as long as you wish. It is a more suitable solution if you are planning a long-term stay abroad.
You can sign up to the MyHealth International cover up to 3 months in advance. To obtain certain visas, you are required to present proof of health insurance and repatriation assistance. The sooner the better.
MyHealth International insurance allows you to choose “à la carte” the countries in which you wish to be covered throughout the year and for your scheduled treatments, including your country of nationality.
Regardless of the cover zone chosen, your benefits are valid worldwide in the event of an accident or medical emergency during stays of up to 90 consecutive days, except in excluded countries.
A waiting period begins on your effective date, and runs for a length of time defined in your Table of Benefits. During this period, your benefits are not active and expenses relating to the treatment concerned will not be reimbursed.
MyHealth International is a private insurance policy for expatriates and, like all such policies, pre-existing conditions and illnesses are not systematically covered. We therefore ask you to complete a health questionnaire when you take out your policy. This will enable us to find out more about your medical history. There is no need to consult a doctor as this is a declarative form.
For expats planning to travel or move to Thailand, understanding the healthcare system—the quality of care available, coverage options, and the process for accessing care—is crucial...
